Impact of Service-Learning Courses with a Social Justice Curriculum on Development of Social Responsibility among College Students
Abstract
In this study, six service-learning courses with different levels of social justice emphasis in the curricula were studied to examine whether the social justice emphasis has a significant impact on college students’ development of social responsibility. Results suggest that: service-learning courses with a social justice emphasis in the curriculum had a positive impact on students’ development of participatory and justice-oriented social responsibility while service-learning course without such an emphasis did not have any impact on the development of any kind of social responsibility.
