Formative Needs Assessment of an International Service-learning Program: An Innovative Approach to Medical Education
Abstract
This study utilized an original survey to evaluate the physical therapy and education needs of health care workers affiliated with a community hospital in the Dominican Republic. Results suggest that healthcare workers affiliated with this hospital could be an ideal audience to focus the initiation of a sustainable rehabilitation-training program; The needs assessment described can assist other academic physical therapy and medical programs in the planning and implementation of ISL opportunities for students and faculty.
